2004 Theme: “Coming Together to Build a Better World”

Since 1998 the Sister Cities International Young Artist Competition has engaged youth from around the world with the Sister Cities Mission. Young artists are encouraged to use their imagination, thoughts and feelings and take the competition’s yearly theme to inspire their artistic talents.

Each participating student artist must be between 13 – 18 years of age at the time the entries are due: April 30th, 2004.

All entries must be originals designed by the young artists themselves; only new pieces inspired by the theme should be submitted.

Each SCI member community may submit one piece of artwork created by a local student to International competition.

This is the fifth year Port of Spain/Atlanta Sister Cites will be participating. We congratulate all our local winners from various schools in Trinidad and Tobago from these past years and hope this year we will place in the International competition.

2003 theme ‘Reach for a Hand ……Touch a Heart’

When International Award winner Sarah Coppinger of Philadelphia, PA, asked what inspired her to do the work, she responded “in my piece a hand is seen, which has written on it different places and people, the hand is writing a letter, this is to show all creatures should communicate with each other, it is signed ??’your friend’ which is to show that if we all share with each other, youth of every country will grow up to understand each other”
